Getting a Streetlight Fixed
There are two streetlights that illuminate the cove. They are very convenient for boaters who come in after dark, but at this time of year, they just do a nice job of providing a pleasant warm glow. One of the streetlights has been out for a couple of weeks, so I finally called the Gloucester DPW. They said Mass Electric (Now National Grid) handles this, but they would pass along the information. The DPW said it usually takes 8-10 days--so I was quite surprised to see a repair truck out tonight at 8:30 PM with someone working on the light. Now, I find this pretty amazing, given that it was dark, cold (25F) and windy (probably 15-20 MPH). Now the glow is back.

Those of us who walk our dogs around the cove late at night certainly appreciate whoever it was that night for fixing the light.

That work order bubbled up pretty quick. They must run a second shift as a matter of course. The guy fixed the light at the end of Andrews too (I was hoping he would miss that one--it shines in my bedroom window). Anyway, it has to be a pretty tough job, something we all probably take for granted.
