... A Coastal Flood Watch Is In Effect... For East Coastal Massachusetts This Coastal Flood Watch Includes Newburyport... Gloucester Harbor... Marblehead... Boston Harbor... Scituate... Plymouth... Sandwich... Provincetown... Chatham Outer Harbor... Nantucket Harbor.
An Unusually Strong Late May Noreaster Will Bring The Potential For Coastal Flooding To The Eastern Massachusetts Coastline At The Time Of High Tide Very Early Wednesday Morning.
Northeast Winds Will Increase Tuesday Afternoon And Night To Between 25 And 35 Mph With Gusts Over 50 Mph Possible Along The Coast. In Response To This Seas Will Rapidly Build To Between 15 And 20 Feet Over The Open Waters. Highs Seas And The Strong Northeast Winds Will Produce A 1 To 2 Foot Storm Surge On Top Of The High Astronomical Tide Early Wednesday Morning. Astronomical High Tide In Boston Is 11.5 Feet At 1232 AM Wednesday... While Astronomical High Tide On Nantucket Harbor Is 3.6 Feet At 139 AM Wednesday.
At This Time... It Looks Like We Will See Some Minor Coastal Flooding With The Potential For A Moderate Coastal Flood Event. If The Potential For A Moderate Coastal Flood Event Increases The Watch Will Be Upgraded To A Coastal Flood Warning.
